Womble 2014 Information and Booking

Description
Womble is a multi-activity camp over a weekend which is designed to give Explorers (and Network) if spaces further experience in canoeing/kayaking, caving, climbing, and mountain biking. Participants will be able to book 2 activities on for the Saturday and one for the Sunday.

Dates
Womble 2014 will occur over the weekend of 13/14 September 2014.

Location
We will be camping at the Botany Bay campsite just above Tintern in the Forest of Dean. The outdoor activities will be at similar locations to last year i.e. kayaking/canoeing on the River Wye, caving in one of the natural caves and or mines in the Forest of Dean, climbing around Symonds Yat and Mountain Biking on the Forest of Dean trails.

Cost
The cost of the camp inclusive of food, activities and accommodation will be:-

  • Explorers and Network members taking up the activities      £45.00
  • Leaders facilitating explorers attending the camp                  £12.50 (cost of food and camp fees)
  • Adventurous Activity Permit Holders leading activities        £12.50 (cost of food and camp fees)

 Explorers and network members will need to arrange their own transport to and from the site and to the various locations where the activities will take place.

Booking
Booking is on a first come basis so if you want your first choice of activity I suggest you book early.

Payment should be by cheque payable to Leicestershire Scout Council and should be received by Steve Pope before 7 September 2014.

Please send hard copy and cheques to Mr S Pope, 38 Upper Packington Road, Ashby de la Zouch, Leicestershire, LE65 1EF. Please mark the envelope Womble 2014 and write on the back of the cheque Womble 2014 & the group for which the payment is for.

Administration
The camp is being co-ordinated by Steve Pope.
Each group will need to submit a NAN form to their respective districts

Kit lists for the relevant activities will be issued later.

Please note that if a person does not have the correct equipment they will not be allowed to take part in the activity and no money will be refunded.

 

 

 

 

Stuck Getting To Womble?

Aside

Transport a problem for getting to Womble? We’re looking at getting buses / mini buses for those who are struggling. Leaving from McDonald across the county rough costs are about £15 – £20 a head. Contact us through the website and we’ll share our plans.

At last we are ready to take bookings!

The camp site is booked for the  28th, 29th and 30th June 2013 and the price is confirmed at £45 for those taking part in activities and £20 for everyone else.

A £20 none refundable deposit will give you a place on the camp; food and fun!

You can choose your activities at two levels; beginners and advanced and you can choose to do the same or different on both days.

The site is confirmed as Biblins Youth Campsite in the Forest of Dean. If you can’t get to the event please ask as we may be able to provide transport at an extra cost.

Womble 2013

Building on this years success the organising team has agreed that we will be running Womble again next year over the weekend of the 28th, 29th and 30th June 2013. The cost of the event will be in the region of £45. Campers will get food, camp fees and some of the best activities that the teams can offer. We are hoping to use Biblins Youth Campsite in the Forest of Dean.

In a change to this year we will run activities at two levels; easy, beginners wanting to try and activity for the first time and advanced for those that have come before. We will be limiting places on the event due to the number that our activity teams can take.

Finally I would like to point the benefits of attending this event we can now ensure that we are able to offer great activities to those coming through the movement. This years event saw some explorers asked to assist on Splash, the starting of the county mountain bike team and a trip in a police riot van!
